Terms of Service
Last updated: April 25, 2026
These Terms govern your use of WordClip ("the Service"), a Chrome extension and supporting backend that provides YouTube clip lookups for words selected on web pages. By installing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
WordClip lets you highlight a word on a webpage and view a short YouTube clip in which that word is spoken. Clips are provided through YouTube's embeddable player. We do not host, modify, or redistribute YouTube content.
2. Free trial
New users receive a 7-day free trial beginning on the date the extension is installed. No payment information is required to start the trial. After the trial, continued access requires an active paid subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
3. Subscriptions and one-time purchases
WordClip offers the following plans, billed in U.S. dollars and processed by Stripe via ExtensionPay:
- Monthly: $3.99 per month, recurring until canceled.
- Annual: $29.99 per year, recurring until canceled.
- Lifetime: $49 one-time payment for ongoing access.
Recurring subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled before renewal. Pricing may change for new subscriptions; existing subscribers will be notified before any change to their renewal price.
4. Cancellation
You can cancel a recurring subscription at any time through the customer portal accessible from the extension's "Already paid? Restore purchase" link. Cancellation stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
5. Refunds
We offer a full refund within 14 days of your first purchase if the Service does not meet your expectations. To request a refund, email support@wordclip.app from the address associated with your purchase. Beyond the 14-day window, we generally do not provide prorated refunds for partial subscription periods, but we will consider exceptions in good faith — for example, in cases of duplicate charges, accidental purchases, or service outages of significant duration.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the extension, except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
- Use the Service to scrape YouTube content at scale, redistribute clips, or violate YouTube's Terms of Service.
- Resell, rent, or sublicense access to the Service.
- Use the Service to harass, defraud, or harm others.
- Probe, attack, or attempt to disrupt the WordClip backend.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
7. Third-party content
Videos are owned and operated by their original creators and served by YouTube. WordClip is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or appropriateness of any third-party video. Some videos may have embedding disabled by their owners; in those cases, WordClip will offer alternative clips when possible.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific word will return a clip.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WordClip's total liability arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, communicated through the extension or by email. Continued use of the Service after a change indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and (if applicable) canceling your subscription. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms, fraud, or to comply with the law.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, except where prohibited by your local law.
